Hansen’s picture books have a classic storybook feel. California animals star as the fanciful characters in all of the stories and fables. In California, the Magic Island, the state’s history is at the heart of 26 fascinating stories and the beauty of the California landscape is highlighted in every brilliantly-colored painting.

Hansen also illustrated two books of essays by Del Rey author David “Mas” Masumoto: Letters to the Valley, and Heirlooms. He recently illustrated Karen Moore’s book for children, Pen the Tale,
Oogie. Hansen lives and works in Clovis, CA
